How to Brush with Braces

For the sake of healthy teeth and gums, it is important to brush and floss your teeth every time after eating.

Brushing Step #1

Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums.

Brushing Step #2

Gently brush in a small circular motion.

Brushing Step #3:

Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of every tooth.

Brushing Step #4:

Use the tip of your toothbrush for the inside of each of your front teeth.

How to Floss with Braces

Flossing Step #1:

Cut off a piece of floss a little more than a foot long. Thread one end of the floss under the wire of the braces. A floss threader can make this easier.

Flossing Step #2:

Carefully floss around all the braces.

Flossing Step #3:

Carefully floss under all the gum areas.

Flossing Step #4:

Carefully floss around every tooth.
